'scuse me for butting in because it's none of my business, but why don't you run the set up as is while you're testing, not painted? That way if you have to do anymore grinding, filing or welding, all you hard work on the paint won't be lost. Just a thought.

Since we have a couple of pretty good Panther threads and a few members that have Panthers, do you all want a Panther Forum like there was in the old days?

Also having the exit housing & steering nozzle installed fairly raw. Might give me an opportunity to try different coatings inside the exit housing. I cant afford powder coating, so I was considering Por-15 for the inside. Its very tenacious, its self leveling (makes for smooth finish) it cures by the presence of moisture. Just dont get it on your hands. It takes about a week to wear off, ask me how I know. I think I know who the major contributing editor will be. It would be a great place to put all the tidbits that all the Panther people have tried and the results they have found. I know you have a pretty extensive history tinkering with them as well.

fleetimus is doing powder coating. You ought to give him a shout to see what his price would be. I know he isn't any where near the price of just about anyone else, does good work too.

OK, a little more progress. since the exit housing is pretty much as far as I am going to experiment with. I decided to Paint and polish it some. The inside is painted with Por 15, its an extremely tough water proof finish. It also dries very smooth. the outside is just Satin Black epoxy, and I polished a couple areas. Next up, a test run, without and then with the slightly modified Panther Jetovator.

I can see the video now, I was going out to my boat, but when I got back from parking my truck there was 6 inches of water on the inside. So I ran back and got the trailer, barely got it loaded back up before it submerged! 454 blue boat wrote: let me know if you want some up help going to try it out im home most of time. I'll give ya a buzz once the rain subsides some, Who know might be able to just launch from the house if this weather keeps up.

I was trying to, but just couldnt get all of my previous commitments finshed (as Usual) However, I recieved the replacement seal from Tom, at JetBoat Perf, That I needed for the rear housing, thanks Tom. Yesterday I uncovered the old girl and put gas in, made sure the battery has a full charge, and installed the Jetovator Cable. Gassing her up! Since I was waiting anyways, I tweaked the steering nozzle a bit. I shimmed the reverse door so it operates smoothly instead of binding up a little at times, and with a little grinding and a little sanding. The reverse gate actually closes against the top and botom edge of the steering nozzle. So hopefully there will be a little less water shooting back at the boat when I use reverse, (it was kinda fun soaking whoever was in the jump seats in back, when I felt the urge though) OK, next day off Thursday Feb 4th. Hopfully it will be sunny!

So when you gonna publish the plans in one little booklet on how to adjust these beastly pumps? I'd pay for a booklet on how to mod these pumps for the better. Specially since it'll be a long while before I have the cash for a whole new pump. but I know lots of people that would do those types of metal mods for me for cheap.

Well the forecast for tomorrow is rain in the afternoon, so Im gonna try and get to the Sac. River before it hits. This will give a benchmark of any improvements over stock that I have achieved if any. and whether or not its a complete waste of time. As I said before I am pretty happy with how my boat has been running. If the only improvement is the addition of a kool rooster tail, and perhaps a little better trim control, I will be exstatic. if the performance is worse then the stock exit housing (as it was when I tried this housing before {was a joke}) then I'll reinstall my stock one, and sell this one. But at least all us Panther owners will have a little more reference material for Test & Results when Modifying Panther Pumps. I am optomistic, Thurs morning at Elkhorn Ramp is where Im launching. So anyone else for a kool couple hours of boating, come on down!
